Why School?

Why as a society do we send kids to school everyday to learn math, english, and science? Why do we teach kids things that they most likely won't use in their daily lives, we won't use the periodic table in everyday life. Most jobs in the 21st century are things like salesman, waiter, and average jobs like that, that don't need to use 90% of the things we are learning. Why don't we send our kids to trade school to learn plumbing and construction skills, that in 2017 are extremely well paying and in high demand. How about having active learning and get out of the classroom instead of sitting in your chair for a hour-and a half. The way I see it is the schools that we go to are wasting our time and i do not think that is right.
