I  really like this quote because not only can this entail machines and cars but this could include people and their routes through life. I know that people can say to you that you must take the path of everyone else and go to college and help out the rest of the economy.

But what if you wanted to start a business at the age of 18?
What if you aspired to be the first female president?
What if you wanted to be a race car driver?
What if you wanted to study butterflies in the desert?
How about working to be a person dressed as a fairy sitting on a stick?

Going against the flow of history and how things were traditionally done is not always easy. I connect this to the quote because few have " paved their own road" and those few had to have been an unconventional person to see that they wanted to defy tradition.
